Closed Beta Dates for Phase 1 and 2 Announced
The Blacklight: Retribution Closed Beta is almost here. For everything you need to know, read on! We are announcing the first two phases of closed beta, more information on following phases will come soon.
Phase 1 will begin on Thursday October 27th at 2PM Pacific Time (GMT -8) and end on October 30th at 7PM. The goal for this initial phase is to test our server architecture, so restarts should be expected (but hopefully minimal). Players that are registered will be selected for this test and receive an email with instructions the week of the test. If you haven’t registered, simply go here to register.
Note: Not all players can be let into each phase. We want to open the flood gates slowly, so we can monitor and fix any issues that arise. But with each coming phase, we will let more players in.
On October 30th at 7PM Pacific Phase 1 will conclude and the servers will shut down.
Phase 2 will begin on Thursday November 10th at 5PM Pacific. In order to ensure stability however, we will follow the same process of letting in people in small amounts. So keep checking your email to see if you have received access.
On Sunday November 13th at 7PM Pacific the servers will shut down, ending Phase 2.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How do I get into the Beta?
A: You first have to register for an account here. Then you have to wait (sorry), until you receive an email from Perfect World Entertainment, which says you were granted access. Then download the game and start fragging!
Q: I see beta keys floating around, do I need a key to get access?
A: We have teamed up with some partners to give away items. These keys will give you a special item and in some cases access to a certain phase of Beta. We encourage you to get a key from them if you can, we will post them in our news and on our forums. Even if you have registered already, you can still get a key and redeem it for an item or access to a specific phase.
Q: Why aren’t you letting everyone in? This is unfair!
A: This is a beta test; we are testing our server architecture and mechanics of the game. On the backend we are monitoring not only technical items, but gameplay items as well. Other examples of what we are actively watching include: weapon balancing, popularity of modes, items, maps and much more.
Q: Where do I download the game?
A: When the download is ready, at blacklight.perfectworld.com/download
Q: Will there be a wipe of my progress?
A: Yes, in fact there might be multiple wipes. You will be informed before it happens and when it does occur.
